The Past & The Future of Hunterdon Hills Animal Hospital
Hunterdon Hills Animal Hospital was established in 1946 by Dr. James A. Frazee, and the practice still stands on the same spot as the original location. At the time the practice was primarily a mixed animal practice, due to the growing need for veterinary care at the many dairy farms in the Hunterdon/Somerset county area. For many years the hospital utilized its own radio tower to communicate with the doctors while they were on the road during their farm calls.
In 1979 Dr. D. Craig Little purchased Hunterdon Hills Animal Hospital, and as dairy farming gradually diminished in New Jersey, the practice continued mostly as a small animal hospital.
Today Hunterdon Hills Animal Hospital is owned by Dr. Chuck Westfield, and the practice cares for cats, dogs and small ruminants such as goats and sheep. Over the last few years the practice has undergone tremendous growth, and we are excited to announce that a brand new facility is in the works! Our plans include a dedicated dentistry suite, a laser equipped surgical suite, a state-of-the-art in-house laboratory and much, much more!
We hope to begin building our new hospital in late 2009. Since it is being built behind our current location (which will later be demolished and become a parking lot), we will be able to continue serving our clients without disruption. Please visit our website often while construction is underway so that you can watch the progress as we grow!
